Challah for the Kids This Fall
Since the fall season and chocolates go along very well together, today’s Challah recipe is going to be chocolatey. Kids will surely love it so you can either prepare it with them as a family bonding or surprise them with this non-pumpkin spice flavored bread.
What You’ll Need
2 tbsp dry active yeast
1 ½ cups lukewarm water
¼ cup oil
Pinch of salt
½ cup sugar
¾ cup unsweetened cocoa
6-8 cups all purpose flour
1 egg yolk and 1 tbsp of water
Mix the yeast and lukewarm water and let it stand for 5 minutes. Then, attach the dough attachment to the mixer and put it on low. Add all the ingredients except for the flour.
Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, until the dough forms a slightly sticky ball.
Remove the dough and add to a greased bowl. Cover and let stand until the dough has doubled in size. Remove the dough from the bowl and braid as desired.
Place it on a greased pan and brush with egg wash. Decorate with the sprinkles. Lastly, bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes and then enjoy!
